Support Ellia's Sailing Challenge!

We are excited to hear about Net School student Ellia Rhodes' endurance sailing challenge, taking place in April - read on to find out more and to donate to her chosen charity, the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

Ellia Rhodes, in Year 11, is doing an endurance sail at Dovestone Sailing Club, Dovestone Reservoir, on Saturday 17th April 2021, in aid of the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, RMCH. During lockdown, Ellia is training daily with a session on the rowing machine and local walks to build strength and stamina.

During the challenge, Ellia will be sailing her dinghy boat solo for 10 hours, non-stop. “I am very proud to be supporting RMCH and I hope to raise as much money as possible for young people who attend & stay at the RMCH. Please help me by donating through my Just Giving page, which you can find at

Please share Ellia's Just Giving page with your friends and ask them to consider donating to this brilliant cause! Ellia looks forward to your support at Dovestone Sailing Club on this fun day, where refreshments and cakes will also be served!

Ellia would also like to enourage other teens in the Oldham, UK, area to get into sailing, so if this challenge has piqued your interest, she says: “As the Youth Representative for Dovestone Sailing Club, I am responsible for a new Youth Sailing Club with RYA training taking place over the Easter holidays. I am actively involved in promoting youth sailing at Dovestone SC, with Youth sailing starting Friday 23rd April 2021 from 5pm - 8pm, Covid restrictions permitting.” More information and contact details for the club can be found at Dovestone Sailing Club - Home (
